My Reaction to the SCOTUS’ Dobbs Case Decision

The Court’s decision in the Dobbs case highlights the fundamental fissures within America

Like you all, I am bound with frenetic energy, not of the typically joyous and optimistic nature to which we are accustomed, but of an inauspicious and outright baleful nature; which seeks to threaten the well-being and outlook of myself and, collectively, our nation as a whole.

Though we knew this decision, along with the decisions to the NY gun law and the Miranda rights law and the upcoming Harvard affirmative action case, were coming, if not entirely inevitable, the gut punch — to our sense of identity, to our morals, to our belief in individual and collective rights and freedoms, to our sense of what makes this nation and its institutions and its laws bend long towards justice — stings even more than expected and it reverberates more thunderously ominous than ever before.

The Court’s decision in the Dobbs case highlights the fundamental fissures within America, and the world at large, as to what is a right and a social/religious mores; or, the difference between life and a “choice;” or, the social majority’s belief in what is right and wrong compared to the intractable, antiquated decisions of civic & social institutions.
